VillainROM is very new to me that coming from HTC HD2. However, it should not be unfamiliar with most others because VillainROM is one of the most popular custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S II. Therefore, I picked VillainROM as my first custom CWM firmware to try. What makes VillainROM special? Based on VillainROM v2.4.2, it is fully deodexed. So you can apply custom theme but stock browser will lag. Fully resigned, but with Samsung apps left using stock signatures. You still have the stock TouchWiz from Samsung. And rest assures that it is rooted and added with Busybox and Superuser. Ninphetamine kernel that supports BLN is included too.

Download CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S2

Thanks to XDA Developer, Chainfire (Donate him) for his CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S II. Basically, CF-Root is a modified kernel based original firmware kernel by adding root to it. Besides, it also adds BusyBox, Superuser, ClockworkMod recovery and CWM Manager. It is one of the ways to root Samsung Galaxy S2.

Windows Phone 7 Mango is available on HTC HD2. As per requested, here is the step by step video tutorial to install Windows Phone 7 7004 build XBmod-Yuki ROM on HTC HD2. It is almost like the previous guide to install WP7 but with updated components. This is the foundation ROM to upgrade to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. As usual, you need to install several components first before installing WP7 7004 ROM.

Prerequisites

  • SPL-2.08.HSPL
  • Radio that support 576 MB RAM
  • DFT MAGLDR Bootloader v1.13

Note – Do backup your SD card data. Windows Phone 7 will delete everything and lock your SD card. You can’t access it anymore at PC (not detected at all). No worry, you still can unlock and use it afterward with this guide ~ How to unlock & revive SD card after install Windows Phone 7? However, some reported that they failed to recover their locked SD card. Do take note…

Touch X is another custom ROM that optimized for Samsung Galaxy S II to achieve better performance and battery life.
