SD Card Formatter… What is that? Personally, I don’t know about it until I was facing slowness of my micro SD card. Yup, SD Card Formatter is a very helpful tool. It can solve transfer rate slowness and even recover corrupted & nonworking SD / SDHC / SDXC memory cards (work for CompactFlash CF card too). One question that you might ask – why can I use the formatting utilities in Windows or Mac OS? Yes, you can. However, the generic formatting utilities may result in less than optimal performance for your memory cards. Basically, SD Card Formatter will give you the best partition and file system (FAT32, exFAT or NTFS) based on your card.

Google did not like external storage accessories such as SD cards. You can’t install applications on external microSD card. However, things changed after Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Yup, Android 6.0 introduces the ability to adopt external storage media to act like internal storage. Applications and data can be stored at external storage from now on. How to benchmark SD card performance on Android?
There are several benchmark tools on Google Play Store to benchmark SD card performance. After tried out some of them, I found out that SD Tools and A1 SD Bench provide accurate and consistent data. SD Tools is good but it can’t be used on certain Android devices like Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. But it is working fine on Galaxy S4. A1 SD Bench works on every of my Android devices. Besides, it provides the ability to test internal memory, SD card and system RAM too. However, it includes cached data sometime. Therefore, you need to benchmark several times to get the correct result.
