Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM is not perfect on Amazon Kindle Fire yet. So I prefer to have Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread CM7 ROM on my Kindle Fire than Android 4.0.3 ICS CM9 ROM. Luckily, there is not much custom ROM for Kindle Fire (compare to Samsung Galaxy S II). So I can test all CM7 ROM for Kindle Fire. Here is the latest CM7 ROM from XDA Developer, Takenover83 that I tested. It is a barebone version which lot of things have been removed and tweaked.

Yes, another custom Amazon Kindle Fire ROM was released. It is HellFire Kindle CM7 ROM. And based on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread which I prefer. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Kindle Fire is still not perfect yet. And will be better when ICS kernel is fixed. Until then, I am sticking to Gingerbread ROM like CM7 on my Kindle Fire. How about you?

Miss stock Amazon Kindle Fire Keyboard after install CM7, MIUI ROM? You can install it back now if you wish too. Thanks to XDA Developer, Takenover83. All you need to do ~ replace existing LatinIME.apk with stock Kindle Fire LatinIME.apk with Root Explorer or ES File Explorer that has root access. Do make a backup of original LatinIME.apk first. Change LatinIME.apk permission to “rw-r–r–” after copied. Reboot Kindle Fire. That’s it.
