Samsung Galaxy S4 has the simple recovery mode just like its brothers and sisters ~ Android system recovery <3e>. It can perform several essential tasks like reboot system now, apply update from ADB & external storage, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and apply update from cache. Definitely not a match for ClockworkMod recovery – CWM or Team Win Recovery Project – TWRP which provide lot of features like Nandroid backup, install custom kernel, ROM and other more. But it is your saver if you installed Samsung Galaxy S4 Retail Mode (you know what I mean if you installed it).

Every Android device has recovery mode. Same apply to Google Nexus 4. As usual, stock recovery does not have much feature compare to custom one like ClockworkMod Recovery or TWRP. But you still get some useful functions like reboot system now, apply update from ADB, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
