Xiaomi places Redmi series as their low end range budget smartphone. They had Redmi 2 smartphone months ago. Upgrade from Redmi 1S to Redmi 2 is not that much. But that’s a totally different story on Redmi Note 2. Yes, this phablet is powered by MTK Flagship Helio X10 processor, Octa-core 64-bit and A53 architecture CPU. And upgraded to 5.5″ Full HD 1920×1080 screen. It has 2GB RAM and loaded with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage (no SD card slot though). 13MP Samsung/OmniVision back camera which offers the Phase Detection Autofocus function, 0.1s focus speed and a 5-element lens with f/2.2 aperture. And 5MP front camera is made by OmniVision. As usual, it is 4G Dual SIM device. Loaded with 3060 mAh Removable Battery with Quick Charge support. And powered by latest MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0.
There are 3 models of Redmi Note 2. China TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA 16GB model at RMB 799. Global TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE 16GB model is priced at RMB 899. And finally Redmi Note 2 Prime with 32GB with TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE at RMB 999. Personally, Redmi Note 2 Prime is the only version that you should get because it does not have external SD card slot. And 16GB model will not enough for daily usage (if you take lot of videos). As usual, users stay outside of China like Malaysia, Singapore will need to wait for a while for Redmi Note 2 to arrive. And Prime version might not come at all (or will be very late)…
Update – Interested… Redmi Note 2 specifications on Mi China website do not mention about any micro SD slot. But it has microSD slot actually. This makes all the models are delicious to grab now…
