Package Content & Design
KZ VXS comes well-protected in a simple white package. As you can see, there are a lot of plastic covers. VXS was stored in the charging case during shipping. Along with the medium size ear tips. Once taken it out, there are additional 2 pairs of silicon ear tips (S & L), short USB-C charging cable and quick start guide in English and Chinese. As usual, take your time to go through it.
Excellent build quality! All thanks to sturdy plastic housing. Mine is black in colour with matte surface. Medium in size and light in weight. Basically, the double lines are the touchable multi-function button. Just beside the KZ logo. And the small holes should be microphones. Yes, 3 of them in total for each channel.
Fit, Comfort & Isolation
It is comfortable to wear VXS for long hours. And it fits very well too. Just pick the correct ear tips size that matches you will do. Besides providing comfort, the ergonomic design helps to keep the earphones securely on my ears too. Yes, no worries about dropping them during exercise. In addition, it has great isolation. It can block some of the environment noises while music is being playback.
Performance Result
Excellent Bluetooth range! It can go up to 8m with obstacles like walls. And the connection is very stable. Furthermore, aptX and AAC audio codecs are supported and they have lower latency than the usual SBC codec. Yes, the audio and video are virtually in-sync that great for movies, games and MV. That’s the standard mode. Performance mode has even lower latency. Lastly, you can use KZ VXS as stereo or mono as you wish.
5 hours of playback time on a single charge based on specs. Yes, VXS has great battery life. And up to 25 hours when combined with the charging case. There is battery indicator status on Android devices, iOS devices should have it as well.
Crystal clear phone call thanks to Qualcomm’s cVc 8.0 Microphone Noise Cancelling. It will suppress noise during a call and reduce echo feedback. Yes, others can hear me loud and clear.
Sound Quality
Balanced sound signature is what you get from KZ VXS. FYI, standard and performance modes have slight different signature. So I am going to cover the standard first. Highs are bright and clean. Performs great without any harshness and sibilant. As for mids, vocals sound nice in both male and female. Toward little bit bright and cool. Bass is decent and enough. Don’t expect powerful V-shape kind of bass. Soundstage is wide. Instruments placement separation is clear even in the complex scene. I love earphones with wide soundstage. How about you?
As for performance mode, everything is closer to your ears. Yes, soundstage is narrow. But it does bring some advantages like even low latency and making it sounds warmer. Bass is slightly stronger and deeper. And the thing that I love most – vocal is getting warm touch as well. So they sound more natural in return. Give and take, just pick the one that suits you most.
Thing to take note… At totally quiet environment, there is a very slightly hiss noise when Bluetooth is kicked in but nothing is being played. You won’t notice it during normal music listening or movie playback.
