iDeaPlay W200 build quality is top notch yet stylish. The speaker grill is metal while the silver housing is by solid plastic. On top, you can find rubberized buttons in grey colour, microphone and 3 LED light indicators for power, Bluetooth and AUX. 2 speakers and a passive radiator in front. While at back, there are micro USB port for charging, AUX in port and another passive radiator in the middle. At the bottom, you can find a very large rubber anti-skid pad and subwoofer (covered by speaker grill). Performance Result
iDea W200 Bluetooth coverage is excellent thanks to its latest Bluetooth Chipset 4.1 that provide stable transmitting and high compatibility. Yes, it easily exceeds the standard 10m Bluetooth range in straight sight line with no obstacle. And up to 7m with obstacles like walls. All my Bluetooth devices like smartphone, tablet, notebook and PC are able to pair with iDea W200 and stream flawlessly. And virtually no lag between video and audio. Don’t forget about the Multipoint function that let you connect 2 devices at the same time. Yup, you can answer call from phone and listen to music from tablet then. Finally, 3.5mm AUX line-in port is there for devices without Bluetooth connectivity.
14 hours of non-stop music playback is what I get from iDeaPlay W200 4000mAh lithium battery. As usual, tests were done with average room sound level. And battery life will be shorter when play louder at maximum level. Overall, battery life is great for a 2.1 channels speaker. Yes, that’s 20W of output that I am talking about. However, charging rate is on the opposite. Yes, it is slow and need about 10 hours to fully charge. Not a deal breaker though. Just leave it to charge overnight will do, right?
The built-in microphone is great. Thanks to 6th generation CVC noise reduction for clear call quality. Yup, others can hear me loud and clear. Useful for small group meeting no doubt. As usual, you get better quality while closer to the mic and softer the other way around.
Sound Quality
Wow!!! Seriously, this little guy really can rock the world. Yes, don’t underestimated this compact wireless speaker. It really play much bigger and louder than its size. And you can’t miss its powerful yet in control bass from the 10W subwoofer. That’s the sound that all the portable speaker should have – powerful bass (and which they lack of). However, some might think that the bass is over power but not in my case. Yes, iDeaPlay W200 has warm sound signature that emphasized bass than treble a bit. You can call it bassy also. And that’s the outdoor EQ mode which have subwoofer enabled. Don’t like the bass, just pick the indoor EQ mode which basically turn off the subwoofer. You get brighter highs and mids then. Of course, lesser bass in this mode.
Personally, I always play in outdoor EQ mode. And it work great in movie and games as well. Yes, feel the powerful bass pumping. I can’t go back to normal portable speaker without subwoofer after tried this one. I really enjoy songs like Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, Beat It and Black or White with it. And no worry about highs and mids. They are still clear even this speaker emphasizes bass a bit. Guess what? My Lotoo PAW 5000 music player just found his new best friend…
