How to solve stuck at yellow triangle issue on Kindle Fire?

Yeah… I just ‘brick’ my Amazon Kindle Fire again after faced boot loop issue on Kindle Fire TWRP 2.0. Kindle Fire stuck at yellow triangle screen this time after install TRWP with Kindle Fire Utility. And adb cannot detect any device. But my Kindle Fire is still able to be detected at Windows as Android ADB Interface. So I know that it is not actually brick. Look around the Kindle Fire Utility run batch file. Found out that my Kindle Fire is on Fastboot mode ~ yellow triangle screen.

Solve stuck at yellow triangle issue on Kindle Fire

How to solve stuck at yellow triangle issue on Kindle Fire?

Via Kindle Fire Utility

  1. Select 1 Bootmode Menu.
  2. Select 1 Normal (4000).
  3. That’s all.

Via Command Prompt
Note – you need to have fastboot.exe (located in Kindle Fire Utility\tools folder)

  1. Bring up Command Prompt.
  2. Go to Kindle Fire Utility\tools folder.
  3. Key in fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000 (don’t cut and paste).
  4. Key in fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot (don’t cut and paste).
  5. That’s it.

Your Kindle Fire should boot into Android OS after reboot. Cheer…

  1. Had the same problem after rooting with KFU and installing TRWP. Tried your method but I just get the after selecting 1. Normal

Also the kindle has the ylleow triangle next to it in device manager, ut when I try and update the driver from the correct directory it cannot find the driver even though the android_winusb.inf file is there and correctly updated (this driver worked when I rooted the device)

    Any suggestions please?

  2. Thanks, fixed it by pointing the kindle deivice to use the usb driver in the KFU drivers directory.

Will also add the 0x18D1 entry in .android\adb_usb.ini file for good measure.

  3. Thank you so much, you drove my out of this loop pnm my new Kindle. The kindle is almost useless with stock software out of US (no access to amazon app store, no possibility to buy mp3 or movies or getting access to prime streaming videos) so havind a recovery before messing with firmware is mandatory. Thanks again!

  4. I’m in a similar jam, only my device is listed as ‘Unknown Device’ in the device manager, and changing adb_usb.ini and adding 0x18D1 didn’t change anything. Windows is convinced that it does not need a driver, and states that ‘Unknown Driver’ is the best driver for the device.

      • In a strange twist, the device rebooted back to the stock Kindle screen that I had before attempting to install TWRP.

Any ideas as to what I should do next? I’m considering just trying to run TWRP again, but I figure I ought to be sure of what’s going on first.

          • I’m afraid I’m not sure of which driver is being provided at that link. It mentions a Kindle-Fire-Driver.7z, but doesn’t seem to have any visible link as to where it’s obtained.

Also, the battery ended up dying on the Kindle, and now that it’s plugged in it repeatedly boots to the yellow triangle and then resets. Unplugging it makes the whole system turn off and it cannot be booted further. Windows doesn’t recognize it at all when plugged in. What is to do?

            • Update: After a bit of time with the wall charger, it no longer repeatedly boots and Windows once again sees it as an Unknown Device. Any further advice from that point onward would be much appreciated.

              • I was getting unknown device. It started working for me when I plugged USB to Kindle while the kindle was off. It would auto turn on and then show in devices as Kindle. From there install the drivers and try that. Hope it helps.

  5. Thanks again, nut I have problem !
After boot loop issue on Kindle Fire TWRP 2.0, It’s reboot and show yellow triangle . After that Kindle Fire: Frozen Over and over. I try reset it : Hold power button 20s and power on But KF still “Kindle Fire”: Frozen.
And Kindle Fire Utility still able to be detected at Windows as Android ADB Interface. But cant connect to USB driver , and access to USB KF .
    So , Please Help!

  6. I did a factory reset and tried to install TWRP using KFU now I am stuck on the yellow triangle screen. My kindle fire is not at all recognized in my windows and mac. How can I get out of this? Please help.

  7. thank you, your article.

    my kindlefire is same state.

    but my kindlefire…

kindlefire utility / normal booting4000 = “waiting device”
    cmd / fastboot -i 0ร—1949 oem idme bootmode 4000 = “waiting device”

    T.T

  8. Thanks so much for the updated drivers! My kindle had bricked in fastboot mode after installing TWRP (incomplete) and the drivers I had weren’t working anymore. Thanks to your drivers, I was able to get out of fastboot mode and everything works fine. Thanks again – you rock!!

  9. No, as i was waiting for the screen to change something, i waited longer and nothing happened. So i shutdown the kindle and started it for several tryie but nothing. also the error on the cmd was that i did not have the AdbWinApi.dll but i looked an i still had it in the fire utilities folder under drivers. So what else can i do.

  10. Ok i redid everything, and now it shows that i have successfully installed the USB driver. then i started the kindle utility and did what you said in the first video about putting it in boot 4000 but it still just says waiting for device. Please let me know what i have to do next. Thanks

  11. it comes back to my old screen saver the live one from when i rooted it from burrito root. Then when i swipe to open it shuts it down.

  12. ok i have it in the team win screen and i activated the mount usb then i will put the renamed updated 6.2.1 kindle update there, then i will unmount and hit restore tile and click on the update.zip and then that should be it. right??

  13. Jayce,

I noticed that your screenshot in KFU has status in adb offline… will it still work? I would assume it would come back with an error no device

  14. Ok — I’ve read thru just about all the comments, but I can’t get TWRP install to work (with either KFU .9 or .93)

I had a previously rooted (burrito 2) kindle fire… I did the KFU TWRP install… I get a reboot and a yellow triangle, but it ALWAYS freezes. I can’t get past the yellow tri screen without issuing the fastbook cmds to get back to a normal boot.

If I manually shutdown the kindle and turn it on, it’ll boot ok… but if I hold down the power button (until it goes amber) it’ll lock on the yellow triangle.

I’ve tried reinstalling twrp a couple times… Maybe I need to do a manual install (instuctions?)

    Rick

  15. The manual twrp install seemed to have worked. Sorry for the false alarm guys — but I tried the automatic (KFU) install using several versions and it never worked!

  16. Hi Jayce,

I’m afraid I’ve bricked my Kindle. After installing TRWP, I got the dreaded yellow triangle and it seems to be stuck in the recovery loop.
I got the KIndle Unbrick Utility but it will not work because my computer does not recognize the Kindle at all. It does not show up in the Device Manager..I do not see Kindle/Unknown Device/Android in the list of devices.
How do I install drivers when the device is not showing.
I have been trying to solve this for about two weeks with no luck. Please help!

    • adil, i have the same problem!! please help us. The system doesn’t ricognize the tablet. it always connect and disconnect twice. I was installing the new miui rom in twrp. after that only yellow triangle. Please help us. i triied in ubuntu os too. any idea?

  17. the only thing i can do is start the kf utility and rebot the fire in boot normal (4000) mode. but nothings change. Yello firefirefire and no adb!

  18. I posted something similar on another page, but I’m posting it here in case I can get some help. My kindle fire is stuck in fastboot mode (the yellow triangle) and I can’t seem to get it to be recognized by the computer. At this point, I’m happy enough simply doing an entire factory reset, but I can’t even get it into a place where I can do that. I really would like to have my kindle fire back, as it’s brand new.

I’ve tried installing the driver using your tutorial, but it’s still unrecognizable by the computer. I’m really upset and frustrated at this point.

  19. Kindle fire got bricked.
    always shows Kindle fire logo.
SU command gives segmentation fault error.
cannot able to perform any push operation…..

    Help ME…………
    Please

  20. Hi Jayce

My kindle just won’t boot up. it goes until the yellow triangle and then just reboots over and over again ,but only if it is plugged into a computer or if it is charging, when its not plugged it doesnt react at all! ๐Ÿ™

my computer detects the kindle but only for a few sec until it boots up again… such a stupid bootloop and i dont know what to do… when its not plugged into somewhere it doesnt react when i press the power button…. PLS HELP

      • Yes i installed trwp, i rooted the kindle, installed twrp, flashed it with cyanogenmod 9 and installed gapps, it worked all very well… but then i had to charge it… after an hour i pulled the cable out and tried to start it but nothing happened. then i plugged it in again and it booted up but just until the triangle and not further… then its in a loop and i cant do a thing because it boots up until the triangle, after a few sec it shuts off and then boots up and so on…

even when i press the power button for more than 20 sec, nothing happens, it only react when its plugged in… but then there’s then f**king bootloop ๐Ÿ™ i’m really frustrated cause i just bought it…

        • Make sure that you are using latest 3.0 kernel in CM9 ROM. It is known to have charging issue in 3.0 kernel.

Or you can install CM7 ROM (stable) since you have TWRP installed.

          • i would install another rom rightaway but i cant even get into twrp… have you ever heard of a similar problem? what should i do? i’d be very very glad if someone could help me….

  27. i downloaded android sdk and stuff but still when i connected the kindle to my computer devices and printer couldnt find the device

  28. I know this is an ancient discussion, but I wanted to add a tiny bit to it. I pseudo bricked to the yellow twrp triangle. This is the fastboot loop as stated in the thread.

My addition is in determing the vendor id of the product to give to the fastboot command. I attached my kindle to my XUbuntu 14.04 LTS. The adb-linux commands are 32 bit but you need to install something different than ia32-libs.

    sudo apt-get install libc6-i386 lib32stdc++6 lib32gcc1 lib32ncurses5

Now the 32bit commands will work on my 64bit Ubuntu/debian variant.

To obtain the vendor ID, attach the kindle and type “dmesg”

    [ 1439.410550] usb 3-3: new high-speed USB device number 5 using xhci_hcd
    [ 1439.427742] usb 3-3: New USB device found, idVendor=18d1, idProduct=0100
    [ 1439.427750] usb 3-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=5, Product=1, SerialNumber=2
    [ 1439.427753] usb 3-3: Product: kindle
    [ 1439.427756] usb 3-3: Manufacturer: Amazon
    [ 1439.427759] usb 3-3: SerialNumber: 0123456789ABCDEF

Note the idVendor=18d1 on my Kindle (for now).

    I now do:

    ./fastboot-linux -i 0x18d1 oem idme bootmode 4000
    ./fastboot-linux -i -0x18d1 reboot

My Kindle rebooted into the AMAZON variant of kindle — that also tells me where the custom mod install failed.

Note that review of dmesg shows that my idVendor now changes to 0x1949 as previously stated.

I will put cynogen on this kindle, I can’t stand the old amazon version of kindle.

BTW, I can now also boot into twrp recovery… When booting and the yellow triangle shows up, pressing the power button for a few seconds puts me into twrp.

NOTE, as long as you can see the USB device connect in the output of dmesg on your linux box, you are not necessarily bricked.

Apologies for the length of this message … I just prefer to help people through these frustrating issues since I too had too go through them. Please enjoy feel free to copy this post to any other android or kindle forum you find — do me a favor and than uDude or Texascwby1836 — both are me. A shout out to some oldtimers most of you will not know: Filo, Fyodor and Madhat.
