How to Install MAGLDR v1.13 on HTC HD2? (Video)

DFT LEO MAGLDR Bootloader is the bootloader that supports NAND Android and Windows Phone 7. Both HTC HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 are supported in MAGLDR v1.13. The latest MAGLDR v1.13 supports Android Recovery (AD Recovery) which put ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) in NAND memory instead of SD card. How to Install MAGLDR on HTC HD2? Just follow my step by step video guide to install.

Note – Your operation system like Windows Mobile 6.5 will be deleted when you install MAGLDR. Everything in your phone will be deleted. Do make a backup if you want to keep them. Do transfer all the data like contacts, calendar, SMS out first before install MAGLDR.

Prerequisites

  • SPL-2.08.HSPL
  • Radio that support 576 MB RAM

Please follow these guides to install SPL-2.08.HSPL and Radio that support 576 MB RAM if you don’t have them. How to Install HSPL4 on HTC HD2? (Video) and How to Install Custom Radio v2.15 ROM on HTC HD2? (Video).

Step by Step Guide

  1. Verify that you have correct radio ROM (if you still have Windows Mobile 6.5).
  2. Press volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone.
  3. It will load into ‘Red, Green, Blue and White’ screen bootloader.
  4. You can see your HTC HD2 SPL version there.
  5. Connect USB cable from PC to phone.
  6. Serial status will be turned into USB.
  7. At PC, right click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and select ‘Run as administrator’.
  8. Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
  9. Follow onscreen instructions to install.
  10. Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
  11. DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded then.
  12. That’s all.

  2. when i go to flasher i get the USB…USB so then i go to the recovery file and i run the DAF and it gives me this.
    An error has occurred
    Read below for more information

    soo did i miss a step or what. please help.

  3. i did everything, but when it reach 100% and phone restarts it loads maglrd and it says 1234 go go go but it dont load the menu it loads my win7 and goes to the phone any reason causing this or i got to redo the step?

  4. Hey Jayce, I have MAGLDR1.11 and trying to download MAGLDR1.13…. When i get to the DFT screen click next i get this ” Readme.txt for this release is missing ” Please help, i would like to have MAGLDR1.13 or should i not worry about it ? Oh, I’m running GingerBread on my HTC HD2…Thx for your help with GingerBread, It’s very nice !

  6. Hey jayce, im having some trouble installing MAGLDR1.13, when its ready to install it gets stuck at 0%, im using windows xp, and my spl is 2.08-0000 i tried a couple of times but it doesnt work. what is it that im doing wrong?

    i connected my hd2 and start installing the magldr 1.13, my mobile screen turned into htc logo but it wont load (pc and mobile) i tried to reinstall WMDC and check the connection between mobile and pc is ok then start again but it wont load??

    I have just flashed MAGLDR 1.13 and now every time the phone boots I automatically get the MAGLDR menu. I can’t change the setting in #10 ; Services>1.Boot Settings>2.AlwaysMenu to No – nothing changes. And I cannot either Boot SD Android (in the SD Dir screen nothing shows to select) or Boot WPH (it says WHP not installed).

    Could you give me an Idea?? I really need your help… many thanks.

  12. hello Jayce, i have new hd2 with windows mobile 6.5. i installed HSPL 2.08 .. HSPL and also MAGLDR v1.13 from USB mode. They did complete succesfully, But, now it shows me aMAGLDR v1.13 Build: bla bla bla…

  13. i am sorry Jayce, I installed the radio 2.15. then it works boot menu one time, but i install NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.3_NAND_(Android-2.3.2) DAF.exe on my pc and from my phone’s Flasher mode, it is not working. Now still it shows me aMAGLDR v1.13 Build: Feb 1 2011 bla bla ….

    I changed the HSPL version, then 1 time it shows me FATAL HIT1. What can I do? Please help me? I don’t understand this phone. Or this phone is stupid? hehe. HELP AGAIN!!!

  14. I followed this guide one. I want to start it from newly. I installed:
    1.HSPL 2.08
    2.MAGLDR v1.13
    3.Radio 2.15

    I install them almost 10 times. but it is not working …

  18. hi jayce, i got windows mobile on my htc hd2 but now i woul like t put android 2.3.5 on it. i already followed the steps end put •SPL-2.08.HSPL and •Radio that support 576 MB RAM
    on it en now i woud like to install MAGLDR v1.13 butt i cant get in to the main windows operating system it gets stuck at the screen boot menu after powering on. how can i fix this??

Hi, I’m trying to update from magldr 1.11 to 1.13 but every time I run the ROM update utility I get “Error [260]: Connection” & “the Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA phone.” I have the tri-color bootloader screen, as well as USB on it. I’m already running a NAND Froyo build, just trying to switch to Gingerbread. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

      • Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve tried 2 of the 3 USB ports on my laptop so far without success. I’ll try the other 1 as well as my desktop soon. I never had this problem installing v1.11 from the same laptop 🙁

      • Hello Jayce, Pls help me…. I want to upgrade from magldr 1.11 to 1.13 as ell…. but each time i boot to the 3 colored screen, it always comes up as serial and not USB.. I have tried different computers. Also, the MAGLDR hat u have here is confusing me bcos each time i download it, it shows in RAR file which i’m not able to open it…. PLS HELP PLS HELP ME SIR

          • Thank You Jayce, I have installed the Window Mobile Device Center… But, when i downloaded the MAGLDR1.13, i could not open it on my desktop (window 7) i connected the hd2 and it shows USB, but the MAGLDR never open… It is a RAR file even when i right click, it will not show an option to run… Pls help.

            Window can’t open this file, to open this file, window need to know what program you want to use to open it… this is what i get when i tried to open it. thanks in advance.

    I did installed HSPL 2.8, radio & magloader 1.13. After installing magloader my hd2 goes to normal mobile without going to bootloader. Androis 2.2 already installed in my HD2. Im trying to install Android Icecream. Can you please help.

  31. Hi i followed your steps to install Magldr 1.13 on hd2. On the “colorful” screen, it shows exactly as the same on your youtube video to install Magldr. I followed the video steps.

    I get stuck on the Rom update bar “0%” instead of 100% bar and get an Error 266 (update error – update utility did not get response from your PDA phone. Please check USB cradle/cable connected between the PC and PDA phone. And also check your PDA phone)

    I re-plugged the cable and back in many times. Am using Windows 7 Home premium using Windows Mobile Device Centre, which detects my HD2 properly, i can transfer files to and from PC-PDA etc.

    Any idea what the issue is? Am still running WM 6.5. Already have SPL-2.08 HSPL via CotullaHSPL. Just stuck on Magldr. I also downloaded 1.14 version of magldr.

  32. After i downloaded the romupdateutility.exe and i right click and click “run as admin” i get the prompt to run as user and then i select yes, then nothing happens

  33. I have done all of the steps and unfortunately the t mobile htc hd2 is stuck on the little white android guy and hasn’t budged since. It’s been about an hour and this is the first boot. Please help…

    I have T-Mobile HTC HD2 with original ROM.
    I’m new in modify smartphone.
    I interested to install android (SD) to my device.
    After following the instruction by doing:
    1. HSPL 2.08
    2. MAGLDR 1.13
    3. Copy content of NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-SD_v1.3 to storagecard/ICS
    4. Run Android successfully

    No I need to restore my HD2 back to WM 6.5, but I don’t know how.
    I have difficulty / cannot enter to original bootloader (red, green, blue, white that shows SPL-2.08.HSPL…). Everytime reboot it always go to MAGLDR menu.
    Would you please help me how to get in to original bootloader?
    and Would you please tell me step by step how to restore my HD2 to the original bootloader & WM 6.5 stock ROM ?

  48. Is there a way to install Android 4.0 and still keep wm6.5 Similar to installing Froyo on SD and run it from SD. I have some concerns regarding my purchased applications on WM 6.5.
    Or what would be the latest Android to run this way or any other way that maintains my ability to continue running WM6.5.

    Similarly, Is there a way to install WM7.x?

    Excuse me for the basic question. I want to have factory WM 6.5 on my HD2 and SD card located 2.3 or 4.0 Android on SD card. I still have factory ROM (with SPL 1.42.0000, radio 2.07.51.22…2).
    Could you confirm that
    1. Hard SPL (which version should I use?)
    2. Upgrde radio to 2.13.xxx
    3. install MAGLDR 1.13
    4. Upload 6.5 factory ROM (how?)
    5. Find an SD based Android ROM and copy to SD (do I need special card, Gold Card, etc…)
    6. use the phone with WM. To switch reboot, select, let the Android run.

    i just installed Magldr 1,13 on my HTC hd2, and i have a problem.
    when magldr was installed my phone did a reboot and now it stays on the HTC screen.
    (white screen, green HTC letters) and i stays there for a while now. can u help me?

  56. one more thing with the ics cm9 rom when i try to install an app i getan error message saying it couldnt be downloaded due to an error. (921). how can this be rectified?

    • Hi ken, you can try this.
      Go to System Settings – Accounts & Sync – go to your google account and remove it. Then open Play Store and add the account from there.

    First of all, thank you for putting this guide together, simplifies a lot of things.

    Second, the problem. I have all the prerequisites (2.08HSPL, 2.15.50.14 radio), WMDC installed, but when trying to install magldr 1.13, even though following all the steps to letter, I get error 266, saying that the program did not get a response from the phone. When the phone was on, it said “connected” in WMDC, but when the device restarts to install magldr, it goes not “not connected”.

    If I try to unplug the USB cable after the installation failed, it just hangs on “USB” not returning to “serial”, could it be that my device freezes when I try to install the bootloader?

    There’s a big problem. I’ve come back to this step to be able to change my CWM to 220 after this. but when I install MAGLDR and want to go to next step to install CWM, Bootloader doesn’t load. It opens go go go and wants to launch that wrong Android. What should I do?

    I have a custom energy ROM on my phone with CHT.
    Wil I loose everything when I istall MAGLDR?

    In above ‘note’ it says that everything will be deleted in my phone

      • Ok, i did. And this is not for me. I want to keep my custom rom from
        energy on my phone. I was looking for a dual boot. I had that before so I can switch between Winmo and Android. So if My Energy rom will be deleted this is not for me.

    I started installing the components as you have listed them and got to the magldr. In the install window (on the PC) one of the requirements is to activesynch your phone. I had a DF android installed long ago and can’t activesynch my HD2. When I get to the red/blue/green screen serial turns to USB fine, but when I try to update it won’t. I receive Error 262 or 267. If I try to start my phone normally it can’t as it says “mount boot failed” and gets me to the Magldr 1.11 menu. As I read your answers I tried different USB ports and even a different PC. Would you have any advice for me please?

    I got it working! Read a post in the forums and it turned out I didn’t have the hard SPL, so I installed it again and everything ran smoothly. Now I’m downloading your Nexus NAND. I hope it’s easy on my battery. Cheers!

Hello Jayce, i have andriod ROM installed already in my HD2, the phone has got screen locked and dont remember the pattern , i tried many patterns but now its asking for Google ID , but its of no use coz the internet is not getting activated . and neither i can activate it as the screen is lock….now i tried to istall the Android ROM as u described in https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/15/how-to-install-cwm-nand-android-on-htc-hd2-video/, After installing Magldr phone gets reboot, and i cant get upto BOOT MENU…..plz help i dont wanna lose my phone.

    I have the HTC HD2, it was working ok with MIUI, It started to boot to the splash creen, then vibrates 3 times and quits for a moment and then all over again, I wa able to get to the colors cscreen :

    I can connect the USB and I’ve pushed Magldr 1.13 it says OK

    I pushed the TMOUS file it took it but it’s stuck in the white screeen T-mobile
    Pushed MGLDR again and cannot get the menu…
    Any idea?

    When I reboot the HD2, it shwn the splash screen, and vibrates once, then goes to the header of magldr and stops, does not show magldr menu but vibrates 7 times and stops….
