Arr… My HTC Album shows too many pictures already. It shows pictures from my album in DCIM folder which is correct. But it also show other folders with pictures which I don’t want. How to hide these folders with pictures from HTC Album? It is not hard to hide them. All you need is Windows Mobile Registry Editor. And key in some values.
Things to do…
- Open the registry editor
- Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored (create the Ignored key if doesn’t exist)
- Create a new String Value and name it whatever you want (Example, Garmin)
- Set the Data for the new value to the full path of the folder to be ignored (Example, \Storage Card\Garmin)
- Finally, restart your phone to take effect
By the way, the folder and its sub folders will not show up in HTC Album after you set it. This trick works on my HTC HD2. It should work on other HTC devices like Touch Diamond 2, Touch Pro 2…
Wait, HTC HD2 running on Windows Mobile? I keep on thinking it was on Android platform :p
Hehe… It is still WinMo now. Waiting for Android ROM for HTC HD2 to come out. Then it will be dual boot OS. 😛
Hey, this is a great post, would you know where we could edit the registry to do the same for the Music player?
Actually, I tried it and its not working, mind helping? When I make the new string value in the Ignored folder there are 2 places to write, name and string. So for name you said name it whatever and for string I put in the folder I want ignored, “\My Documents\My Pictures” and then restart phone but the album still seems to be there.
Norman, I uploaded my registry setting screen shot. I have no issue to hide the temp folder. Are you doing the same way?
O, I redid it and it works. I think I was thinking it would hide the My Pictures from my Photos & Videos Tab in Sense but it doesn’t. It does hide it from albums though, thanks.
WMkits Photo Encryption helps windows mobile phone users to encrypt all their mobile phone photos, images and keep them safe with password protection. That means, others are not able to view any of your senstive or important photos on your mobile phone without your approval, even if you lost your phone or lend your mobile phone to your friend or relative. Your privacy is safe.
I have tried this several different ways and have not seen a change. I have looked everywhere for the change but there is nothing even restarted the phone and save the file different names. Am I missing a step?
Thanks for the post, works for me (WinMo 6.5.3 Sense 2.1)
I had two folders:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignore
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
Adding a key/value pair in the second folder was sufficient for me.
Note, I did not need to restart phone. Just forcing Album process to close through task manager, and then reopening it was sufficient.
