How to fix USB init failed RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) on NAND Android installation?

There were several readers who had issue during NAND Android installation. They faced Error Description: USB init failed ~ Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) issue. Basically, this happens on Windows XP which uses ActiveSync.

How to fix USB init failed RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) on NAND Android installation?

  1. Load Android Flasher mode.
  2. Connect USB cable from PC to phone.
  3. You should see MAGLDR with ‘Wait USB…USB’.
  4. Go to control panel and then ActiveSync.
  5. Uncheck allow USB connections.
  6. Then execute DAF.

This should solve USB init failed RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723) issue for Windows XP users…

  1. scratch my previous post on MAGDLR – i got past this and then got stuck at this point but Jayce this has done the trick – hopefully android is installing successfully!
    Right i better get ready for work hehe

    • aha a little patience paid off and it all worked with only a few mins to dash out of the door and get to work – on got there on time but in all the kerfuffle i left my lunch at home!

      All is well now so far

  2. i tried doing this, but it does not connect to USB on magldr screen on my device.. and its giving the same error on android bootloader

    I was asking for help for “SD Kernel open failed” error… search through all forum… tried all that is posted but none working…… finally I found the problem…

    I bought a new SD card (8G Class 4 Kingston ) as a backup to try NAND Android, for some reason, it cannot be recognized by MAGDLR…. So I plugged in my old SD Card ( provided with the phone when I purchased ) WALAH !! My ClockmodRecover Works !!!

    Tried many different to reformat my new SD card, but still cannot be recognized by MAGDLR… so use it as my backup…. any clue ??

    • I am using Kingston 4GB Class 4 card. No issue for me. Try to delete all partition on your SD card. Then create only 1 FAT32.

      By the way, you do have initrd.gz and zImage files in your SD card, right? Else ClockworkMod Recovery won’t be loaded.

  12. Still facing the “”RSPL.cpp (723)”” problem after I did the steps above. Using Windows Vista, unchecked the allow USB connections in the Windows Mobile Device Center in Control Panel. But same error shown in DFT Android Flasher windows.

      • Thanks for ur prompt reply.
        Tried rebooting several times and even updating the USB driver (which always show UP TO DATE). But problem still exist.

        This problem happened only after I flash Task29. Before this, I was having Android on my HD2 but the freezing problem keep happening.

        From other forums… seems like this problem shouldn’t be happening on Vista platform. But unfortunately I got it. 🙁

  13. this will sound pretty stupid, as i manged to do this last month before restoring the phone, but i can’t find activesync in the control panel (and im using xp)

  14. I’m in the process of installing this awesome ROM now. I will let you know how it turns out. If I follow your instructions to the letter and it works out, I would like to know if you have a donations link.

    One more thing, on the CMYLXGO’S Topia HD Android ROM I was not able to factory reset the device no matter what method I tried. I was hoping if I am able to perform a factory reset on this NAND Android ROM…short of having to reflash the ROM of course lol.

    Whenever I flash a new ROM on the HTC hd2 do I have to give it root access every time I do this? Reason why I’m asking is because a certain app called My Backup Pro requires root access to restore not only my apps and data but also restores the data stored on those apps as well.

    Awaiting for your response and thanx again for that awesome “stock” Android ROM!

      • and before that I had the same error msg , although I did all above steps ,. I even installed win 7, dlded win mobile center., and unchecked usb boxs, yet still stuck on waiting usb … usb .
        problem is that it is my first time to install ROM. and I can’t get back to my previous HTC OS win 6.5. so I’m stuck with the black screen of MAGLDR , plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help

  19. Hi I am successful till step 21. I am using XP, when i rightclick i have “run as” option not “run as administrator”. Also I dont have administrator rights on my laptop. Please advise. Is there any otherway. Thanks.

  21. I finally got MAGDLR with the ten point menu, but now i have a different issue
    orange words
    -reboot system now
    -apply data from sd card
    -wipe data/factory reset
    -wipe cache partition
    -install zip from sd card
    -backup and restore
    -mounts and storage
    advanced

    followed by:
    E:Can’t find misc
    E:failed to find “cache’ partition to mount at ”
    /cache”
    E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/command
    E:Can’t find misc
    E:failed to find “cache’ partition to mount at ”
    /cache”
    E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/log
    E:failed to find “cache” partition to mount at ”
    /cache”
    E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/last_log
    E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/log
    E:Can’t find misc
    E:failed to find “cache” partition to mount at ”
    /cache”

    I hope you can help, on a budget and can not afford to get a new phone

    When trying to install Android (Desire) on my HTC HD2 I get an error: Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723).
    Im using Windows Vista, Im administrator and in Active Sync (Windows Mobile Devicecentre) I have unticked the box: Allow usb connections. It still does not work, i still get the same error. Btw it shows SD kernel open failed.

  27. I loaded aMAGLDR V1.13 Build: Feb1, 2011 by Cotulla. For about a month now my screen locks at the boot menu(I assume) my screen reads:

    Booting Android from NAND
    ANDROID LOAD at 11800000
    from NAND
    yaffs2 part is/boot
    Load z Image
    Load initial.gz
    [K]11808000:237098[I]12200000:37222
    Load done!1E FATAL HIT 1

    It was working fine for a few weeks then this started happening. Can I uninstall and reload? What option do I have for a fix? Thanks in advance.

    I had android nand on my htc hd2 with jaws rom n i had a problem with battery draining so i updated the rom from miui rom update applicatin after that the device is crushed 🙁
    it runs only the first mgdldr v1.11 which shows :

    booting android from nand
    android load at …..
    ……….
    ……..
    till go go go !
    and then nothing more 🙁 the problem can’t sync it with my PC i don’t know why so i can redo the whole procedure from the beginning to recover it …help pls.

    plz tell me i have a error on any system espect 1 window7 highly system. i have hd2 and when i flash or install hspl it is no show usb on screen but i unplug serial is show on screen. and usb driver was not install in any window.

    i m trying to convert ICS on my HD 2 and did HSPL2, Radio 2.15 and MAG but while doing recovery procedure m getting below mention error continuously. pls guide me on this.

    please help me, as per instruction given i complete HSPL4, Radio 2.15.50.14 and DFG MAG successfully but when m trying for recovery above mentioned error is coming on the screen and m not able to proceed further.

    then once again i came back on windows 6.5 but i need to experience ICS on my Htc Hd2

  51. during DWI installation, it worked fine until it reached flashing 4th partition it stopped and show following errors:
    An error has occurred

    Error Description: send d000ff partition data failed
    Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1279)

    Error Description: block send fail
    Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (962)

    Error Description: Block is after end.
    Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (704)

    I did change several external cards but without success.
    I have seen the video the flashing partitions upto 7th before reset to start phone.
