Design & Build Quality
GranVela G18 build quality is decent with solid and smooth plastics. And this is great because it is light to wear it. Nice to touch as well. Most of the stuffs are located at right channel – multi function button, volume up / down, light indicator and microphone. And micro USB port on the left one. Both of them have ear hook attached for sport. As usual, do refer to all the pictures for more details.
Fit, Comfort & Isolation
GranVela G18 fits well on my ears. M size ear tip suits me best. Able to provide good seal and isolation. Surely block some of the environment noises out there. You have L and S to choose if M is not your cup of tea. Suitable for sports due to its lightness. Ear hooks do their job nicely as well. All are good but it has microphonic issue when cable is moving around. Comfort is not the best in town when getting perfect seal with bundled ear tip. But it is working great and comfort with SpinFit ear tips that I have. Hmm… Might due to my ears’ shape…
Performance Result
GranVela G18 wireless connection is decent. Exceeds 10m Bluetooth range in straight sight line with no obstacle easily. And almost up to 7m with obstacles. By the way, it also support Multipoint function that let you connect 2 devices at the same time. Yes, you can answer call from phone and listen to music from tablet. No need to disconnect and reconnect here. Convenient, right?
I am getting around 7 hours of non-stop music playback. Not bad from GranVela G18 150mAh lithium battery. And more than enough for your daily sport activities. As usual, tests were done with average room sound level. And battery life will be shorter when play louder. How to check its remaining battery life? There is battery indicator status on iOS devices like iPhone, iPad and iPod to check remaining battery life. And some newer Android devices are able to show that too. Lastly, it requires around 2 hours and a half to fully charge.
Phone call quality is decent. Others can hear my voice clear but has echo sometime. Not sure why… No problem to hear others though.
Sound Quality
Wow… I did not expect GranVela G18 sound quality to be such good as a budget Bluetooth headset. It has balanced sound signature (a little bit toward bright). Highs and mids are clear and sweet. And still have enough bass pumping. Of course, you need to have perfect ear tip seal in order to get those basses. Else all you get is treble without bass. Overall, GranVela G18 sound exceeds my expectation and perform well at this price range.
Advantages
- Excellent sound quality with balanced sound signature
- Comfortable for long hour wear (with SpinFit Ear Tip)
- Multipoint Support
- Good isolation
- Decent build quality
- IPX4 & light in weight
Limitations
- Bundled ear tips do not give the best comfort (for me)
- Microphonic
Conclusion
GranVela G18 is a nice sport Bluetooth headsets no doubt (if you can get perfect seal). Stylish and light in weight that great in sports. And the most important – you get decent sound quality for the price that you pay. Sound great? Get yours at Amazon.
