Amazon Kindle Fire has silent over-the-air (OTA) software update feature. Therefore, you don’t need to upgrade Kindle Fire manually by yourself. Just turn on Wi-Fi connection and Amazon will push software update to your Kindle Fire when there is new software update available. However, you can also download Kindle Fire Software Update and upgrade it manually.
For me, I download Kindle Fire Software Update for another purpose ~ restores to stock Kindle Fire from custom Android OS like CM7 and CM9. And it will replace custom bootloader, recovery like TWRP 2.0 with stock one too.
Download Kindle Fire Software Update here.
Hi!
I have the software version 6.2.1 on my Kindle Fire, but I’d like to revert it back to stock status. I don’t have any special recovery (like TWRP) or so.
How can I revert is back to its stock status? Can I just download the Kindle Fire Software Update (which is 6.2.2 right now) and update it using the Amazon’s description? Or shall I use TWRP with the 6.2.2 update file?
Please advise!
Thanks!
Regard, Krisz
Just factory reset it.
Hello, I have completely messed up my KF. None of the options that the web has offered is bringing my KF back to life. Basically, I think I may have formatted the sdcard inside the KF. I have copied the files onto my computer before starting the whole rooting process. I tried to put in the ICS ROM which I did not like. I then tried to go back to stock and I think with all that I did has now made my KF inoperable. When I push the power button, all that comes up is the kindle fire (white and orange) logo. Then it is stuck. I even tried to use the kindle fire utility. Nothing. I tried kindle unbrick utility v1.0 and also nothing. My computer recognizes it for maybe 2 seconds as a different drive then it dissappears. I guess I have truly destroyed my KF. If there is anything that I can do to make this work again, i’d be very grateful…
I used Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.6. (from deviceguru.com) I installed the TWRP 2.1.1. I had the KF 6.3.1 update. After I rooted, I was quite happy with it until I tried to add the ICS ROM (AOKP ICS milestone 5) from rootkindlefire.com. I seemed a bit slower than when I had it first rooted, that is why I decided to remove it. Apparently I did something wrong…
Hi Ed, can you still load TWRP now?
No, nothing comes up except the “kindle fire” logo. Once turned on, it gets bright, then it gets dim and it stays that way until I actually turn off the kindle. My computer does not recognize it. It could only “see” it under device manager under “Android phone – USB composite…”
Hmm… Can you still install TWRP in this case?
It’s stuck at the KF logo. I had TWRP. I cannot at all do nothing except turning the KF on and off.
So you can’t load TWRP and can’t install TWRP also?
It is stuck on the kindlefire logo. All I can do is to turn it on and off. That’s all.
Sorry Ed, I have no idea then. Try to consult others at XDA website.
Dear Bro,
How can I root kindle fire 6.3.
I found it somewhere, but so much steps with commands.
I am not good enough for that.
Is there some way to root easily?
Thanks in advance.
