Yeah… We have official Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread firmware for Samsung Galaxy S II finally. XXKI3 firmware is the latest official leak Samsung Galaxy S2 firmware. And DarkyROM2 is the first custom firmware that I tried based on XXKI3. I read that stock XXKI3 firmware can easily pass 4,000 Quadrant score. Custom firmware should be better, right? Let’s find out…
Err… Why does the Quadrant score is not getting near 4k as I read? Is the SuperCore 2.0 kernel slowing it down? Anyway, this build also includes AOSP 3D Launcher on top of stock TouchWiz Launcher.
Installation guide ~ How to install firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 with ClockworkMod Recovery?
Download DarkyROM2 XXKI3 Base CWM ROM here.
I’ve tried to update the firmawre on my rooted SGS2 without any luck. After the phone reboots, the error message states I need to do it via kies (which does’t work) or contact a snasumg service centre. Is there anyway to unroot?
Thanks in Advance for your help!
Regards
Ken

Hi there. I’m currently holding a Samsung S2 i9100 with:
Baseband i9100XXKI4
Build no. GINGERBREAD XWKI4
Android version 2.3.4
I want to know how to root my device in order to use DarkyRom 2. Guide please. And I found out that the wifi connectivity is weak as well as the network connection. Do I need to upgrade the firmware version as well?
Please read the installation guide in the post.
I’m a little bit confuse. Do I need to upgrade the firmware in order, I meant like:-
– from 2.3.4 > 2.3.5 > 2.3.6
– or can straight away upgrade from 2.3.4 > 2.3.6
Thanks for the guide.
Did I mention that you need to upgrade all the way from 2.3.4 > 2.3.5 > 2.3.6??
Sorry. That one I’m referring to another thing. As what I can read from other resources, I need to upgrade to respective firmware in order to have a latest firmware. That’s why I’m confuse about it. Sorry for that. I’m a newbie to android so I have a lot of questions in my head.
No, you don’t need to do so. It is okay to upgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6.
Thanks a lot for the advice.
