XDA Developer, boyppc has lot of good Android builds for HTC HD2. They are CM7 Sense.s, CM7 HoneyComB, MIUI, Desire HD and HTC Sense 2.1 & 3.0 builds. Most of them are updated to the latest Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread except HTC builds. I took Ginger 2.3.4 HoneyComB as testing. And Google Talk with video and voice chats is working. Be sure to check out XDA website for other builds.

Hi!
I am facing a unique problem, while trying to update from version 2.3.3 using clockwork mod. In mgldr option I shifted zip file of 2.3.4 using mass storage option. I could see zip file on PC, but while I try to use option 2 of ad SD I . I could not find zip file….how to resolve
Make sure that it is the zip file. Not the RAR file.
Thanks, I could resolve it now
Ohhh
Yes it was a RAR file…but how to convert it zip file
Hi,
I’ve got a question about a certain file, i downloaded and installed the android rom, but after installing 2 or 3 apps my internal memory is full. With Astro file manager i found a huge file, 174 MB. I’ts called squashed. Deleting this file would create a lot of space for apps but will it affect the rest of the software? Or is it okay to delete the file?
That should be Android system files. Don’t delete it. Try to use Android ROM that come along A2SD+ so that applications can be installed at SD card directly.

hi jayce
i am a fan of yours..from your site only i was able to change my hd2 from windows to android…
Installed gpc android 2.3.2 which is available in your site…i had a problem with video recording..so i am changing it…
i have few questions:
1-what is the use of changing the radio version?i already have 2.12.50.02_2 in my hd2 gingerbread
2-what happens if frequently ROMs are changed?
3-which android 2.3.4 is better n best.?..typhoon cynogenmod 7 v3.2.1 or BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4? whats the differnce between these two?
4-Is video recording is working properly in both these ROMs??
1. Some radio version performs better on certain ROM and telco. I am using 2.15.
2. No issue (at least for me as you can see I tried lot of ROMs already).
3. It is depend on your preference. Personally, I am using Typhoon CM7 now.
4. Typhoon CM7 video recording is working. I did not test BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA…
thanks jayce for your reply i will apply the former android version..

i have one more question…i already applied n now i am currently in android 2.3.2 gingerbread version…now i am gonna install 2.3.4 ,the question is should i uninstall the previous version of android(2.3.2) before i install 2.3.4 or should i overwrite?
thanks in advance
You should be able to upgrade it if using the same Android ROM. For example, BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER HoneyComB 2.3.3 to 2.3.4.
Hey how can I upgrade from 2.3.2 to 2.3.4?
Is there any tutorial for that… Actually I want to unistall the previous version of gingerbread..
Just install it like you did on 2.3.2. It will overwrite the previous version.
HI JAYCE
actually what is the use of having cynogen7..in this version there is no cynogen right? is it better to install this version of android?
CM7 is a custom Android ROM. This version is based on CM7 too.

Hi Again,
got some time to handle my device this Sat. so got few questins….
what is MIUI NAND?
for example what is the diffrence between BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA MIUI 1.6.3_GINGER 2.3.4 V7m and BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4 CM7 HoneyComB
and if you got an articale that explain the diffrences between the distrabutions it will help.

Sorry, no article about that. Basically, MIUI is a custom ROM developed by China developers. Something like CM7.
Hi!
I was using 8 GB SD card and now actually want to upgrade to 16GB card, do let me know what steps I will have to follow.
Uisng
MGLDR 1.13
Clockworkmod 2.3
Ext partion 400
Rom BOYPPC SHIFT PDA 2.3.4 (5th May)
Regards,
Rajesh
Make a backup with CWM. Copy the whole clockworkmod folder to new SD card. Then restore it. By the way, do create EXT3 partition on new SD card if your 8GB has it.
Thanks Jayce,
Please suggest me best method for creating EXT3 partition.
I am now opting for latest Typhoon build.
Regards,
Rajesh Gupta
https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/12/how-to-create-ext3-partition-on-sd-card-with-clockworkmod-recovery/
I did follwoed the steps and done the EXT3 partition but how do I validated that I have successfully done so.
While I check in settings>storage I see Internal storage as 150MB and Available space of 91.20 (some apps already installed).
SD card break up is showing as Toatl space 13.87 GB (0n 16GB card) and available space as 12.51GB (again some content on it…
Not sure if I really partitioned correctely…how do I confirm?

Rajesh

also i got no mic at my keyboard… which i had at the nexus build

Sorry, I am not sure about that. Maybe you can consult the ROM chef at XDA website. 🙂
Hi jayce, i,ve installed boyppc-shiftpda ginger honeycomb 2.3.4 and i’m found that some of the app and games can’t download on the market. How to fix it?
Try to upgrade to the latest version see…
How to upgrade?
Make a backup first. Then upgrade it like you install zip file previously.
Thank you But i cant download the new version from your post, after i click download here, the page show that ‘page not found’.so where can i’m download the new version?
Please get it at XDA website.
Thanks jayce
Jayce, i’m did the upgrade already but same issue arise. When install a game from market the download icon will appear at the status bar and just for 3 second only and then dissapear. Any idea to fix it?
Try to upgrade to latest MAGLDR and CWM. And use 150MB partition layout. This is what I am using now. No issue to download apps from Android Market.
Sorry Jayce, how do i use 150mb partition layout?
Install it. https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/02/03/download-clockworkmod-recovery-v1-3-for-htc-hd2/
thanks, you are great….
can you install this rom using the nand method?
No, it can be installed by ClockworkMod Recovery mode only.
Hi Jayce,
is this quadrant score base on T-mobile HD2 (512RAM 1GB MEMORY) or Internation verson (448RAM 512memory) ?
Internation verson
Hi Jayce,
Many many thanks for the information. You have trained me to install ROMs on my HD2.
I have a simple question regarding the subject ROM as where can I find Google Talk for video chats? I cant find it anywhere :-S
This Android ROM has it.
No, it don’t have it. I am on V37.
There are some instructions in the XDA thread mentioned as
If you use a clean CM7 rom, you may have noticed that Google Talk is not included. If you still want to use the clean rom and want to install Google Talk (ex) here are the steps (you will need some empty space on System partition though – 1MB is enough):
Obtain Talk.apk (ex), you can get it from the zip file of Boyppc non clean CWR rom, it is found in the path /system/app
Using root explorer copy the file to /system/app, this is why you’ll need to have enough free space here. You may need to change the access level from R/O to R/W on the top of root explorer to allow the write operation.
change the permissions of the file to match other files there, it should become similar to this pattern:
XX
X
X
Reboot your phone and your up”
But I can’t find talk.apk anywhere :-S
Also I have just created a 1024MB EXT3 partition on my SD card using. Just wanted to confirm as if this is enough or do I need to do anything else like create data.img etc.
Many thanks for your help.
Hmm… HoneyComB V21 (non clean version) has it. Not sure about future releases as I did not test them. Try the full version (non clean version) see. Google Talk should be there.
Yes, 1GB EXT3 partition is enough if you don’t have lot of apps to install. No need to create data.img for this Android ROM.
Hello Jayce!
Can you please provide a link to this version?
The link on this page is dead!
XDA is too confusing..
I downloaded the wrong version:
[CWR-CLEAN] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_GINGER 2.3.4-HoneyComB Stable.V2 (18.Jul)
The ROM chef removed the old builds. So the link is dead. Just look for HoneyComB in the XDA download link.
Which one? CWR or cLK?
[CWR-CLEAN] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_GINGER 2.3.4-HoneyComB Stable.V2 (18.Jul)
[cLK] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA_GINGER 2.3.4-HoneyComB Stable.V2 (18.Jul).rar
CWR.
Hi Jayce,
I installed this BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4 NAND rom (v36) by DAF method,
1.does this rom included app2sd?
2.I tried to move app to sd but only part of the app can be moved to sd, is it normal?
3.is that what ppl say EXT3 for, after doing this process can I move the whole app to sd, and how to do it?
4. I heard ppl say it is possible to make an area of sd card for internal memory from around 200MB to 1GB 2GB or so? how to do this and is it good?
thanks for all of your help
1. No idea on DAF build. But CWM has A2SD+.
2. Yes, some minor parts of the app might still left in internal storage.
3. You don’t have to manually move apps and data to SD card. A2SD+ does it for you automatically as it stores at EXT3 partition at SD card.
4. Do you mean EXT3 partition?
Jayce,
sorry and also for one more qs,
is that android_secure folder and those asec files are apps moving from phone to sd?
is that mean i alraedy have apptosd and no need to do extra work to make it perform better?
thanks a lot!!!! appreciate all of your help!
Sorry, no idea on that folder and files. And never try apptosd. So can’t comment much…
Hi Jayce,
Sorry if I bugged u,
at my SD card i see there is a folder call android_secure, and inside there are .asec files which they are those apps that I choose to move to sd,
is that mean EXT3 partition?
and what I see some HD2 user shows their phone with inernal memory of 2GB or 3GB, they claim that they draw a part of SD card for internal memory, is that what you mean EXT3?
If yes, how to do it and is it good to do it?
thanks
Nope, I don’t think those folders are EXT3 partition.
Yes, EXT3 as part of internal storage. You can check it with DiskUsage – https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/04/30/diskusage-check-android-phone-storage-space-usage/
