Package Content
Armaggeddon MKA-13R RGB Eagle comes with well protected package just like other Armaggeddon’s products. Once taken out the keyboard, you can find 3 Outemu modular blue mechanical switches, key cap puller and switch puller. That’s it. No user manual as all the information and guide are located on packaging box and behind the keyboard.
Design & Build Quality
MKA-13R RGB Eagle has excellent build quality. All thanks to metal top panel and solid plastic bottom. Furthermore, it has sleek form factor that ease carry around as you can see. The cable is braided and has magnet ring while USB plug is gold plated. Come with velcro cable tie too.
At bottom, you can find 6 anti-skid pads including 2 rubber anti-skid pads on keyboard legs. Yes, it does provide good grip and stability. No worry about keyboard moving around for sure. And as you can see, all the useful information like shortcuts, functions are there too.
Alright, besides black colour. You can have white colour too. The main different is the keycaps. The black keycaps have the usual matte surface while the white ones have glossy shinny layer on top.
The back is the same as black version.
Yup, let’s have a closer look on these anti-skid pads.
High profile keycaps are what you can get here. And come with life time fade proof warranty too all thanks to KevlarTech high quality concave keycaps.
Software
You can customize RGB lighting effects through keyboard shortcut directly. Or install software driver and configure them through user friendly GUI. 14 lighting effects and 5 game lighting profiles for you to play with. You can control the effect speed and light brightness too. As you can see, up to 3 user profiles for you to choose. There is macro editor as well. You can also assign shortcut like Ctrl + C on key that you prefer. Other quick launch like volume up/down can be assigned too. Just like macro by using Armaggeddon software.
Performance Result
Outemu blue mechanical switches are no stranger to me. In short, it is almost the same as Xinda switch in term of loudness, tactile feedback and actuation force. They share the same price range as well. It is also the loudest when compare to Cherry MX and Kailh blue switches. Has the lowest actuation force too. Tactile feedback is good but the other two are better. No the best out there but it’s the cheapest among all. Can’t complaint much here. And being modular type is great for long term investment when warranty period is over. You can replace the switch by yourself manually. No addition fee incurs too.
Armaggeddon MKA-13R RGB supports NKRO (N-key rollover or 100% Anti-Ghosting) no doubt. Yes, you can press every key on your keyboard and they will all be registered correctly. You can also lock the Windows key to avoid accidental interruption during gaming as well. And there are lot of Fn shortcut keys for you to play with. Yup, you can control volume and music playback easily here. Quick calculator launcher is useful too. All these are good as long as can remember their location. Why? Their symbol are printed at keyboard this round instead of keycap. Not easily being seen while using.
14 backlight movement effects are supported. 5 game lighting profiles that can customize to suit games like FPS, CF, COD, LOL and QQ. Up to 4 brightness levels to select. And can turn it off too. Yes, you can turn on all the LED lights. Or turn it into breathing light mode. Or trigger on by touch mode as you please. Change it everyday to suit your mood.
Yeah… Let’s talk about lighting now. Above photo is taken with the black model. LED lights are dimmer just like other black colour keyboards that I own. And below photo is taken with white model. Yes, I love its RGB lights very much! It is much brighter and colourful. Very nice on the outlook I must say but on the actual usage, the white keycaps tend to be a little bit sticky / oily compare to black matte version.
