Prerequisites

As usual, you need to have Kindle Fire adb USB driver installed. Else Kindle Fire Utility can’t talk to Kindle Fire from PC. Follow this guide to do so ~ How to install Kindle Fire adb USB driver? (Video) Do download Kindle Fire Utility if you don’t have it yet.
Note – Kindle Fire Utility will help to download TWRP 2.0 Recovery for you. However, you can also download TWRP 2.0 for Kindle Fire yourself manually (like video guide above). This will speed up the TWRP 2.0 Recovery installation as it does not need to download TWRP 2.0 Recovery during the installation. Do refer to Kindle Fire Utility at XDA website for more information.
Step by Step Guide
- Connect USB cable to Kindle Fire.
- At PC, go to Kindle Fire Utility folder.
- Click on run.bat.
- Select 5. Install latest TWRP Recovery then hit Enter.
- Be very careful and follow the exact instructions from Kindle Fire Utility.
- Select Reboot at TWRP 2.0 Recovery.
- Press any key to continue when you see yellow triangle.
- That’s all.

Hi Jayce, I have KFU and have used it to root my Kindle Fire. The problem I keep having is when trying to run TWRP. Following all directions but device keeps getting stuck at “Kindle Fire”..no TWRP reboot showing up on Kindle and no yellow triangle. Advice?

It was because the host server to download twrp from was down. After server was up again, Went to another computer and did the steps from the beginning again and all is well now.

I used Kinle Fire Utility to install TWRP 2.0. Everything seemed to work fine, I got to the reboot screen and I pressed the reboot button like it told me to. It then took me to this triangle with a fire symbol in it. It says “press power button for recovery”. I press the power button, nothing happens except my KF turns off, but I have to hold the button in for a while for it to turn off.
How do I get out of this problem, I thought everything went fine.
What is your problem?
try it again now that the host server is up again. Start over from the beginning. You may or may not have to use another computer because the original computer may not recognize it anymore. Good luck.
Brett, I got the same problem as you. But, my Kindle got problem during the step 15 at below link. I spent three days to solve the problem, however, it still shows triangle with fire symbol when turn on my kindle fire.

It gets stuck at the part where it says the kindle has been told to reboot in fast boot mode but the kindle is still at the screen where it always is when I connect it to the computer… it never turned off… and the run.bat still says I have not yet seen the triangle fire thing. (Also, is there an official support thread somewhere? or is this it?)

Yes, everything works just fine. I’ve tried several times but it just keeps waiting without anything happening… anything I do has no effect- turn it off and on with it plugged in or unplugged, unplug it and plug it back in with it still on… IDK, it’s like it’s mad at me or something… I even yelled at it and it barely flinched.
I just informed it that rooting is legal but it just sat there.

Just a I thought, KFU does not support latest Software Update 6.2.2. You need to wait for KFU Developer to update it. Or patch KFU yourself. You can get more info at XDA website.

KFU 0.9.2 does not support Software Update 6.2.2 without patch. You need to modify KFU to support it. More info at XDA website.
I’m 6.2.2 rooted succesfully and when i run kindle fire utility, hit 5,

Hello, I’m guessing that my Kindle is stuck in fastboot mode since my computer does not recognize my Kindle Fire. This occured during the “Selecting Normal Bootmode please wait…” part of the installation of TWRP. I attempted to install drivers using “install_drivers.bat” so that my computer can recognize fastboot mode but I can’t, install_drivers.bat fails every time. I’m stuck on the yellow triangle screen.

I did not try on Windows XP. I am wsing Windows 7 and have Kindle with Android ADB Interface as the driver in Fastboot mode.

Thanks for the quick response. I downloaded and installed the usb driver and followed the instructions from your website. I even uninstalled the driver once just incase. Still no luck.
