Take screenshot on Android device like phone and tablet? Simple as ABC, right? Just install screenshot application like ShootMe or screenshot. Then take screenshot with it. However, they are only workable on rooted Android devices. How to take screenshot on stock Amazon Kindle Fire that comes without root access? It is not an easy task. But not mission impossible too. Personally, I won’t do so if just to take screenshot. However, setup this environment can do other important stuffs like root Kindle Fire, install custom CyanogenMod ROM or even install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM on Kindle Fire. So why not?
Prerequisites
- Android SDK Development Environment
- Kindle Fire adb USB driver
Follow this guide ~ How to install & setup Android SDK Development Environment? if you have not install Android SDK Development Environment yet. And How to install Kindle Fire adb USB driver? too if have not done so.
Open up Dalvik Debug Monitor Server (DDMS). You can do so by typing ddms at Windows search column or command prompt (CMD). Or run ddms.bat at C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools folder. At Dalvik Debug Monitor, highlight your Kindle Fire. Ctrl + s or go to Device then select Screen capture… to take Kindle Fire screenshot. That’s all.
Note – don’t play with Dalvik Debug Monitor other functions unless you know what they are. You might brick your Kindle Fire.
