Yeah… Thanks to XDA Developer, tytung. We can have AGPS feature on Android HTC HD2 now in his latest project ~ GPS Libraries for HD2 Gingerbread. It should work on Android Froyo and Gingerbread. I tested with TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.6 which comes with tytung’s GPS lib v1.2. The result… I am getting faster GPS lock with PAPAGO! navigation. And I can even get GPS lock in my room where cannot get a lock previously. WOW!
Tytung’s GPS Libraries v1.2 for HD2 Gingerbread Features
- Show the number of satellites before getting a location fix.
- Show or hide the GPS icon in the status bar instantly when you start or stop a GPS app.
- Support the leap seconds. (Thanks to arne182 for figuring it out.)
- Modify the Accuracy (i.e. Error in meter) to be more reasonable.
- Add AGPS interface. (Won’t see “no AGPS interface in agps_data_conn_open” in logcat now.)
- Add the missing functions to receive the NTP, XTRA, and SUPL settings from gps.conf.
- Add AGPS implementation including injecting AGPS data (xtra.bin) and time into the gpsOne engine.
You can give it a try on your current Android with this GPS Libraries v1.2 here. Or download TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.6 here. Or wait for your favorite Android ROM chef to update his build…
