HTC HD2 is a great phone. You can run stock Windows Mobile 6.5 on it. Err… WinMo 6.5 is a little bit outdated. No worry, you can install custom ROMs like Android and Windows Phone 7. Personally, I don’t recommend WP7 unless you need to use a killer app only build for it (but I doubt that). So Android OS is the one that you should get. And here are the latest and greatest Android ROM based on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread that you should try.

have you tried any of pongsters’ hyperdroid series? i find it faster and smoother than the ones you’ve mentioned…great site btw..helped me a lot
Nope, its LCD density at 167 by default keeps me away. Since you said so, I will take a look on them.
This can be changed by using SGS tools to edit the build.prop file. There is an lcd density setting that can be changed from 167 to 220. You will then get the icon sizes that are larger…
or you can simply use font changer. i find that easier..
Thanks Jayce for the options. I am still using the JDMS Ultimate that u recommended. Any of the above surpass the JDMS in term of performance? I could have tried them but i just have to many stuff in my phone
I have a question, i am just wondering whether different ROMs produce different camera picture quality? I am at the highest end of picture quality and i am still getting somehow not that sharp pictures, even with other downloaded camera apps.
Thanks for the webbie and keep it up. I will always be lounging around.
I am using BOYPPC now and had switched from JDMS ultimate(ROM based CM 6.1 Kernel: Hastarin 8.5.3). I find that there is a big difference in performance, BOYPPC being faster and smoother. But, I may have had a bad install of JDMS ultimate. BTW, also had issues installing BOYPPC version using Clockwork Recovery. Had to use NAND Magloader.
Most of them above are good. I did not use them as daily build yet because some of the apps did not work on Gingerbread. Will migrate to Gingerbread sooner or later.
Yes, camera quality is depended on each ROM ~ camera app and kernel.
BTW, I do not mean to disparage anyones build. It’s just that one build was slower for me, then another. I appreciate all the work the chefs do over at XDA Developers, and I do donate to help them to continue their great work….
how download a android os 2.2 in htc hd2
thank you
Please follow the installation guide in the post. Look for it.
Do any of these ROMs have T9 keyboard input on them?
I cant live without it!
Hi!
I am using froyo revolution on my HD2 but crippled in need of more phone memory. Can any of top 7 ROM offers higher phone memory.
Regards,
Rajesh
Yes, CM7 Android ROM uses lesser disk space compare to HTC Sense build. And Android ROM with A2SD+ support will install applications on SD card. Therefore, you won’t face low internal disk space issue.
Thanks, you are like lamppost….busy ushering all of us
Hi!
I tried sd card partition using clockward mod recovery V1.3
but now when I am trying to reset at mgloder follwoing error is coming when I want to run DFT at USB Flasher mode
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (736)
please help
Regards,
Rajesh
Why do you want to reset at MAGLDR? Just install Android with ClockworkMod Recovery will do.
No…actually I am trying to install clockworkmod recovery….and this is where I am getting issue…as you see the error message above.
one more thing …do we need to unzip folder using 7 zip only?
Which MAGLDR version are you using?
I am using 1.3
Do you mean MAGLDR v1.13? And ClockworkMod Recovery v1.3?
By the way, are you still using the same PC that you install previous NAND Android ROM? If yes, you should not get USB init failed issue.
Thanks, let me try from another PC too…will bother you again in case I face issue..thanks again
I tried on other system too
follwoing error message
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (736)
Hi,
Which of these are the best. i have no clue about each of them. last you replied, i got a SD card build installed but now want to move to NAND as i think it will offer more flexibility and SD card space.
Regards
karan
All of them are good.
but if you were to pick one, then what will be your choice and why? options are spoiling my decision making power
if possible lemme know the difference between each of them.
Thanks
karan
I’m using BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER V10 and it’s really good in my opinion. Awesome battery life.
Hi, I’ve just installed [DAF] BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA DESIRE HD v11 as my first nand build. I have to say it is great – very smooth and everything so far works like a dream. But I do have a few questions:
1/ My understanding was that this was a Gingerbread build, but when I go into software info it says the Android version is 2.2.1; is this normal?
2/ Very soon after I got a warning saying that my ‘Phone storage is getting low’. I have moved all the apps that I can over to SD card but only have less than 10MB left of available internal phone storage. What can I do?
3/ I’ve previously tried various SD builds (before I took the nand plunge), some of them with Sense and some of them not. Is it me or are the Sense builds the only ones that have message and mail icons which show how many new messages you have?
Cheers.
Patch
1. Nope, Gingerbread should have 2.3 or above.
2. Install A2SD+.
3. Hmm… Not sure about that. I seldom use HTC Sense build. CM build does not have the count number for sure.
Great, thanks for all that. Just one additional question: where can I get A2SD+ from? I’ve done a little reading up since your post and it does indeed sound like it shoudl fix my memory problem (fingers crossed!). The only thing I haven’t come across (yet) is where I can download it from and/or how to install it on my HD2. I’ve searched on Android Market an drawn a blank (I’ve found and downloaded something called APP 2 SD Free but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. I’ve also googled it and found lots of discussion in various forums (some of which suggest it is included as part of other software) but no clear instructions on where to get it. Any pointers please?
Many thanks.
Patch
The easiest way is to install Android ROM with A2SD+ support. Or install Darktremor Apps2SD – https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/26/how-to-install-applications-to-sd-card-directly-on-android/ But you need to use ClockworkMod Recovery to install it.
@Rajesh: Is your new testing system have Windows Mobile Device Center installed on Windows Vista / Windows 7 or ActiveSync installed on Windows XP?
Hi!
I have Windows 7 with 64 bit and windows mobile center installed on the PC

Hi, Jayce, currently my HTC Legend is runing android 2.1, how to upgrade and where to download the right version to change my HTC LEGEND to run highest version (as i don’t know which version will be the best fit for this HTC)
Pls help to advise and provide the link for me to proceed it.
Appreciated.
Sorry, I have no idea as I don’t have HTC Legend. Official ROM can be downloaded from HTC website. Custom ROM at XDA – http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=610
Hi Jayce,
Which HD2 NAND Android ROM would you say is the best for battery life, stability, and speed? I am having trouble deciding, and since you are an HD2 expert, I wanted to ask you.
Try these – https://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/02/top-android-2-3-5-gingerbread-nand-android-rom-for-htc-hd2/
Get the latest build from XDA website. They are better.
But I don’t want to know XDA’s opinion, I want to know yours. Can you give me a name of a ROM or another person to ask to get this answer? Thanks.
Who asked you to look for XDA’s opinion? I just ask you to get the latest build from there because download links in my blog are old already.
But they don’t really say what Android ROM has the best battery life. I will just use TyphooN CM7 then. Thanks.
piz say me how can dowloand for hct hd2 android
Please get it from each post.
