Finally, rooting Android 2.2 Froyo is as simple as ABC. Thanks to z4root. It is a one click solution to root and un-root Android 2.2 Froyo. And is developed by xda-developer, RyanZA. Based on RyanZA, it should be 100% safe as nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries. And if something goes wrong, just simply reboot your device should fix up any and all issues. Well, I cannot try it on Android HTC HD2 because mine is already rooted by default. But you can. So far, these devices reported working…
Compatible
- Samsung Galaxy S (All variants)
- Backflip
- Sony X10
- Xperia Mini
- Drod 2
- Galaxy Tab
- Wildfire
- Galaxy I5700
- Galaxy 3 I5800
- Droid X
Incompatible
- Desire (requires nand unlock)
- Desire HD (requires nand unlock)
Come on, wait no more. Root your device and unlock the its real power.
Search for ‘z4root’ at Android Market to download it.

Nope. That’s the first thing that I tried.

You are welcome.

ur droid in what device?
The Temporary Root option doesn’t seem to work for my LG Optimus One with Android 2.2. It keeps on asking me to enable Debugging Mode when it is already turned on.
Hi Jayce,
could you please guide me how to root Thai font on Android pad (pendo pad). Its firmware is now on Android 2.1.
Thank you very much
Gough

How do you root gingerbread 2.3.4 (Samsung Nexus S)
A mi en el wildfire no me funciona bien.
Does it work on HTC Wildfire? I am running 2.2, thanks
Sorry, I don’t have HTC Wildfire. You need to try it out yourself.
ok thanks I got it working. But how does one know that the device is rooted? Any further steps? What all to do with a rooted device? Thanks
Try ShootMe – https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bw.picme.local You should be able to take screenshot if your phone is rooted. Lot of things can be done with rooted phone, take screenshot is one of them. Take your time to explore it.
Thanks a lot. I think its not working with Wildfire because I downloaded and installed Titanium backup but it won’t start. Says device isn’t rooted. Any ideas?
Hmm… Wildfire changed to incompatible at XDA website. You need to find other tool to root your Wildfire now.
I hate to break it to you, but z4root is no longer on the android market .
And where can I get it? I tried to download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 to my PC but virus checker wouldn’t let it?????
Any help would be appreciated. I have a Galaxy I896 (Rogers – Canada) and wireless tethering will not work because Rogers loaded a file with Froyo 2.2 that prevents the Galaxy from tethering – I want to blow this file into never never land.
You may have to settle for SuperOneClick. That seems to be the app everyone is touting now. Google it.
Hi, Jayce, first of all, Merry X’mas and Happy New year.
Just want to check since the above software to root cannot use for HTC DESIRE, (1) any other software downloadable with instruction to root HTC DESIRE ? and also, (2) currently the HTC DESIRE is with Android 2.3.3, where and how can i download and install 2.3.7 to HTC DESIRE with installation guidance ?
Thank you very much.
You can get more info at XDA since I don’t have HTC Desire.

Hi, Jayce, forgot to mention that i did try the SUPERONECLIKC but it does not work for CMW RECOVERY after i have run the SUPERONECLICK.
SuperOneClick does not install CWM for you. You need to install it manually by other method.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too.
I recently attempted to root my kindle fire using this from the app store and now it wont even turn back on. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear that. You can’t do anything if you can’t even power on it. Please send back to Amazon for service.
