Package Content & Design
Everything comes well-protected as usual just like other HyperX products. There are mouse pad, support info and quick start guide in the package. That’s all.
Excellent build quality. Period. Mine is XL in size with RGB lighting effects. There are other sizes to choose from – 2XL, L and M. But seems like only XL size is loaded with RGB. The rest do not have it. Do take note. Yup, Pulsefire Mat RGB comes with long braided USB cable as you can see.
Have a closer look at the onboard memory controller and the anti-slip rubber base. This textured rubber underside does provide strong grip. And remain stable on the desk even with a lot of mouse movement here and there.
Touchable onboard memory controller with 3 LED light indicators. FYI, the seamless anti-fray stitched edges provide resistance to daily wear and tear. Take a look at the densely woven cloth surface too. It has precision surface that provides smooth and consistent glide.
Software
Just like other HyperX products, HyperX NGENUITY software is there for me. It helps to personalize the lighting effects that you love. And you can store those settings directly on the onboard memory. Yes, up to 3 profiles. In there, you can set the LED effects as wave, solid, cycle and breathing. Brightness and animation speed can be adjusted too. Of course, you can also customize the LED colour on the 2 zones.
Performance Result
Extra large coverage area! Yes, HyperX Pulsefire Mat RGB Gaming Mousepad Cloth XL does the job well indeed. As you can see, there is a lot of free space for your mouse to move around. You can put your gamepad, headphones and a lot of stuff there too if you prefer.
Smooth and precise glide on the precision surface. It does have a little resistance force when compared to totally smooth surface mouse pad. It has slightly coarse surface. So you get much better accuracy and control in return. In addition, the thickness also acts as soft cushion to provide comfort.
Pulsefire Mat stays secure thanks to quality anti-slip bottom. The same applies to the keyboard on the top. Everything remains in its place even during intensive gaming. And you can’t miss the LED lighting effects that level your gaming experience. Good enough during the day and perfect in the dark environment.
By the way, you might notice the rubbery smell at first. But no worries, it will fade away after a week or so…
