Like all other Samsung Galaxy Devices, Samsung Galaxy Note II has PDA, PHONE and CSC too. PDA is build version of the firmware, PHONE is baseband / modem version and CSC is consumer software customization which specified to geographical region and carriers. CSC contains the software packages specific to particular region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS for service provider. You can change to other CSC if your firmware has multi CSC packages.
Note – By changing CSC will factory reset your Galaxy Note 2. All applications and data will be deleted. Make sure that you make backup before do so.
How to change CSC on Samsung Galaxy Note 2?
Simple, just use CSC Changer to change it. Select the CSC that you prefer. That’s it.
hi Jayce,
My note 2 looks like its for south africa and i’m in philippines. I never got any updates yet. Upon checking from Sammobile, firmware for that region is still LJ1 (so, no wonder) and now is around MB2 or even MB6 on some other regions. Can I simply use CSC changer to change this to other regions that has updates if it has multi-csc? I’m not really comfortable with flashing via Odin since this has no warranty (in case it bricks). Does it run even without rooting? (still the stock LJ1 ROM). Will I be expecting OTA updates after I have changed CSC to other foreign region while I’m in philippines?
Yes but CSC changer needs root access. So better use Odin to flash Philippines firmware.
hi,
I just flashed XME (malaysia) 4.4.2 firmware for note 2 via odin… but the csc changed to philippines… tried to use csc changer, but the app needs busy box to be installed first… so I installed busy box… open csc changer again, touched change csc button and continue but nothing happened… preconfig menu not appeared… so i cant change the csc… is it my steps wrong? does csc changer support kitkat?
Steps should be right. No idea about KitKat support since the app is not updated for quite some time.
Why do you need to chance CSC?

Actually, I’m quiet confused about the csc things because i flashed XME firmware… but when i check with phone info.. the csc is XTE/ XTC… how come it happened? I dont know exactly the csc functions… but based on ur article, I dont have any problems about carrier yet
I have no idea too. It should be XME when Malaysia firmware was installed. No need to change CSC if you don’t have any issue.
Hi,
I’m from Malaysia..few weeks ago, i has lost my imei and Not Registered on network..but then fixed after sent to repairing shop..now got my imei back..just the signal was very poor. Then, i noticed that:
Source Phone Info-Samsung
Country of Origin : MADE IN CHINA (before repair it was MADE IN VIETNAM)
Original CSC Code : SEE (should be XME)
Firmware’s CSC Code : SEE (Should XME)
CSC Country : SEAD (should be MALAYSIA)
CSC Country ISO : RS (??)
Now i want to change my CSC back to my Country of Origin (Malaysia), can i use this apps and everything that was stat above will change to previous before i repair my imei?
The reason i want to change the CSC back is ‘cos i don’t know what CSC Country : SEAD and why Country of Origin was MADE IN CHINA. Futhermore, look like the CSC i’m using right now not available in my country, so i was unable to use any network operator as well.
Hi Banister, try to ask repairing shop to install Malaysia firmware since you can’t use any network operator.
Thanks for replying, i’m thinking if i flash Stock firmware for my region(XME) and then using the CSC Changer apps..can it be fix? Actually i want to try first before send back to the repairing shop.
Yes, you can do so. No need to use CSC Changer if you installed MY firmware.
